This week we worked on improving the template for our project site. What this involved was learning about wireframes. This actually turned out to be really good for me. That was because I had already studied this in my Creating Online Media class and combined with the additional study that we had done in Web Design, it was really quite easy to do. I do say that with a caveat though. If it had been that I did not gain the extra understanding of wireframes from the other class, I would have really struggled with the activity in this class. I might be a good idea because from what I have seen, it can be a very helpful part in developing website plans and structures.

Learning about PHP this week was very useful to me. Before learning of it in class, I had a completely different view of what PHP actually did and what it was used for. After learning about it, I was easily able to think of all that I could do. Particularly insightful was how you could use PHP to automatically insert dates. Although this was a simple thing, I immediately went on to my small separate projects and inserted that that PHP code so that my copyright date was automatically updated.

Another side thing that I did to my projects with PHP was to make certain part of the site load with PHP. I particularly did this with my Creating Online Media to help make the code less dense. Shortly after doing that, I took a look at the class syllabus and notice that we will also be learning about PHP in that class too.

As I had initially thought that taking these two classes at the same time would be a pain, this week has shown that they two build on each other. As result, I feel that I have been better prepared for the things that I have learned.
